Blue Peter Club, Leicester – Pub Review

Meat Sizzler

Some members of team Tara recently went to Blue Peter Club for some food. For those of you who do not know about the Blue Peter Club, we are not talking about the well known children’s TV programme but a popular Indian restaurant/pub located in Leicester just off Belgrave Road on Law Street. Blue Peter is well known for providing quality Indian food and at a very good price. As it is only a relatively small place, arrive early to make sure you get a table as if you get there late you may have to wait around. Also, if you are going with family get there early, as it can get a bit loud later.

Flamingo’s Bar & Grill is a popular restaurant in Leicester and has been a around for a while now. I have been there on a few occasions and though the food can be hit and miss on some occasions I keep going back as the place itself is nice and with a friendly service. The majority of times I have been the food has been quite good, it is only on the rare occasion where it has not lived up to its reputation of quality food.

Tiranga, Leicester – Restaurant Review

Tiranga Restaurant, Leicester

One thing I have to say about Tiranga is that it is the most consistent restaurant I have ever been to (consistently good I might add), an opinion which is echoed by all my friends who have eaten at the establishment. I have yet to walk out of Tiranga disappointed, which is why I highly recommend you pay a visit there. The grand menu will appease any taste bud out there, as they have an extensive Indo-Chinese menu.

Haveli, Leicester – Restaurant Review

Haveli Restaurant, Leicester

In 2006 I visited India and went to a place named Haveli India. It was like walking into a funfair or circus. As I walked into the big gates of Haveli, you would see something happening on every corner of the eye, from fortune-tellers to elephants, statues of people and even dancing monkeys. And when it was time to eat, Haveli provided one the most traditional meals in my lifetime. Firstly we were sat down, and not on chairs but on the floor with cushions (just like the traditional way). Food was served in old-fashioned cutlery; it was just like living in the Roman times. It definitely was different which made me fall in love the whole set-up.

Paprika Watermead, Leicester – Restaurant Review

Team Tara has been to Paprika on a number of occasions and would definitely go there again. As the majority of the time the food has been very good and it has only let itself down on the very rare occasion where their Sizzler was not up to scratch and was not even sizzling. A good thing about Paprika is that you have a choice of the bar food, which goes down quite nicely with a pint or two, and the restaurant to eat. The Bar Menu items are from the main restaurant menu.

Belmont Hotel – Christmas Lunch

Food review – Christmas Lunch

The Belmont Hotel is situated in Leicester City Centre close to the train station.  It is a small boutique hotel with a nice restaurant and a little bar area. It currently has a special Christmas menu which as well as offering the classics like chicken and turkey, also offers the option of pigeon for something different. All the food seems quite nice the only problem is the portions, as they are rather on the small side.
