If you haven’t heard of ‘Lady GaGa’ then where have you been? She has got to be one of the most influential and controversial pop stars currently out there. She’s being compared to the likes of pop legends ‘Madonna’ and ‘Michael Jackson’ of the eighties and nineties, when their careers really took off, and she has a knack of creating controversies in everything she does, ranging from her fashion sense to her music.
I’ll cover her fashion some other time… 😉
This time it’s the new video, nearly ten minutes in length, that was released recently for her new song ‘Telephone‘, which also has Beyonce in it and has created a buzz in the music world for it’s explicitness and has been dubbed as the best music video since Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ (I don’t know about that…but it’s definitely different). I actually do like it but found some scenes quite disturbing for a music video, reminds me a lot of Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Kill Bill’ and ‘Pulp Fiction’ flicks! Surprisingly, the ‘Pussy Wagon’ from ‘Kill Bill’ was used in this video…hint, hint. Current rumours are that she’s been offered the role of an ‘assassin’ in Tarantino’s next movie! Hardly surprising considering that the video is made in Tarantino’s style. The director (Jonas Åkerlund) wasn’t inspired by him, was he? The video also features some well known brands being deliberately advertised in various scenes, you’ll see what I mean.
Anyway, I think you should check out the video here and see for yourself what the fuss is all about but be advised that it does contain scenes some viewers may find offensive.
Here are some scene grabs from the video:
It was strangely like watching a ‘Tarantino’ movie than a music video…so what do you think, is it the best video since Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’?
