MY NAME IS KHAN, the eagerly awaited movie has finally arrived and all that can be said now is that the wait was truly worthy. My Name is Khan reflects the world today with the film’s backdrop being the attacks on September 11th and how the world was divided into groups and one particular religion was given the name of Terrorism. However, the film strongly states in crystal clear words that ‘Not All Muslims are Terrorists’.

The story of the film is about Rizvan Khan [Shah Rukh Khan], who has Asperger’s Syndrome, moves to San Francisco to live with his brother [Jimmy Shergill] and sister-in-law [Sonya Jehan], where he eventually falls in love with Mandira [Kajol]. However, Rizvan is a Muslim and Mandira is a Hindu so Rizvan’s brother is against their love but this does not stop Rizvan and Mandira getting married. Their married life is going very well until September 11th when the Twin Towers attack takes place, which forms the opinion that all Muslims are terrorists.

Of course, this catastrophe threatened and devastated the entire world, particularly the marriage of Rizvan and Mandira. Since Mandira failed to understand the religion, views and actions of Muslims, she left Rizvan as he was a Muslim himself. However, Rizvan becomes very confused and sad that Mandira left him yet he becomes determined to prove to his lady-love that Not All Muslims are Terrorists.  So, he sets off on a highly inspiring journey across America to prove his belief. Nevertheless, Rizvan’s journey is neither simple nor easy as he is trapped in a vulnerable situation where he is tagged as a terrorist and thrown behind bars.

MY NAME IS KHAN is a work of excellence with Karan Johar’s [Director] flawless direction, Shibani and Niranjan Iyengar’s applaud-worthy dialogues, Ravi K. Chandran’s remarkable cinematography and of course, it is the best work of the superior stars, Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan. The golden pair has been seen in Baazigar, Diwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and it is evident that each time they have appeared together, they have given superior performances. Yet, if you thought that the complimentary pair created magic in their previous work together then you must think again!  The combination of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in MY NAME IS KHAN is highly top-notch and dynamic and this time it does not create magic but explosions!

Love the website! 🙂 Want to watch My Name Is Khan it looks really good. I agree with you on your message for the film which was not all muslims are terrorists

  • Just seen ‘My name is Khan’ and what a great film it was. Shah Rukh Khan acting was top notch once again. Had a nice mixture of comedy with Sharukhs acting to go with such a sensitive film.

I just wonder if the president will meet Khan in real life now?!?

7.5 out of 10 for the film.
