It has taken Sony nearly 3 years to finally realise we are not happy with just sitting and playing games. Nintendo knew they could not compete with Sony and Microsoft at that so they bought us the highly successful Wii, So what is going to be different about the Playstation Move? Or is it a Wii rip off? Well we will have to wait till its release to decide but we can look at the key features and how it works.

The Playstation Move works very differently to the Wii, first of all it is an attachment for the PS3, second the Wii uses a motion sensor bar which sits on the TV and it works pretty well. The Move uses the Playstation Eye Camera which is a separate buy and what does that mean for us, more money out of our pockets. So once we get past spending more money, the camera uses a very precise motion controlled video, which I hope means a very accurate game play.

What you will notice about the Playstation Move, it has taken the design for the controller but has included a coloured ball on top for camera to pick up the movement of the player, they say the controller is what makes the Playstation Move unique but too me it looks silly. The one good advantage they have over the Nintendo Wii is the powerful graphics the Playstation 3 can produce. The Wii graphics have always come into question but they have always more than made up with the game play.

There are always going to be good and bad things with the Playstation Move, but I am sure if you have got a PS3 and want to take it to the next level then this is the way to go, but I would not go out and buy a PS3 just to Playstation Move. I have a Wii which is good enough for me.

Here are the key features for you to compare:

  • PlayStation Move motion controller works with PlayStation Eye USB Camera to accurately track player position.
  • Advanced motion sensors precisely track both fast and subtle movements.
  • Motion controller’s sphere uses internal RGB LED to provide visual feedback
  • Vibration feedback is felt during specific actions
  • Includes DUALSHOCK 3 action buttons for advanced gaming.
  • Utilizes Bluetooth® technology for wireless gaming.
  • Built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery
  • Charge the controller and automatically pair with the PS3  system via a USB cable
  • Up to four motion controllers can be connected at once to the PS3 system.
