Google have decided to get their hands dirty in the phone market with the release of the Nexus One. Have they finally had enough of Apple taking a huge percentage of the phone market? To me the Nexus One does not look like it has anything different or revolutionary, it does not have the sleek look of the Apple iPhone.

The first thing you will notice is the screen, high resolution 480×800 pixel screen. In conditions of visibility, it is streets ahead of its nearest rivals. I was disappointed that they decided not to go with more storage memory then 512mb on the phone, but it does support MicroSD memory so it is not all doom and gloom. The phone is based on Google’s Android software. This was released in the past to get Google into the Mobile telecommunications market. What you have to remember is that the Nexus One is taking you into the huge world of Google. They are the dominant force in the internet world; they could take the phone market by storm on reputation alone.

What Google should have done with the Nexus One is try to take the design to a new level. Do something completely different and that would separate them and the rivals. I know it must be hard for Google to compete with Apple, who do have some awesome features on the iPhone but I am sure they could have put more thought into the design of the Nexus One.

If you are in the UK and cannot wait for the official release in the UK, you can go to and pick one up for $529 offline. In my opinion it’s a lot of money for not a lot of phone.

How many of you will put your faith in the Nexus when choosing your next handset, would you be able to risk your hard earned money into a company trying their hand at the cellular phone market? Maybe this is just the first version of many and they will realise that I and you as consumers want different not the same.

If you have a Nexus One, and want to have your say on the phone, leave a comment and let’s get talking.
