Leicester is well known for it’s cultural diversity. Every type of cuisine is available throughout the city.
One of the more well known area’s in Leicester is Belgrave Road (a.k.a. Melton Road or The Golden Mile), every third business premises on this road is either a take-away, restaurant or Indian Sweet shop.
Everyone you ask will say they have their own favourite place to eat, but my own personal choice has to be the more pub type places, the quality of Indian food in these places can be excellent but you have to sacrifices some other important things like service or cleanliness, These place are also value for money for the quantity of food you do get.
Another drawback for these places, it is better to go there with friends rather than family due to atmosphere.
Here are my three favourites:-
Clowes Of Arms
The more restaurant types of places have a better atmosphere for the family, quality service and cleaner premises. The quantity of food is slightly reduced and price of the meal will jump up in these places.
Belgrave road has lots of different restaurants catering for all. The meat eaters and pure vegetarian have a large selection of places to go. Below are some of the main ones:-
Mirch Masala (Vegetarian)
Sanjay’s Curry Pot
Feast of India (Slightly further away from the rest)
I have not named all the restaurants you could go to, but there is so much choice. I believe it all comes down to personal choice. Some places might make it spicier that others but I think everyone should give Belgrave Road a go.
