Voda Bar & Grill in Huddersfield

As much as I was bowled over by the food and ambience of Voda Bar & Grill, I was equally impressed with my short visit to Huddersfield. A first time visit made me realise how pleasant the town of Huddersfield is. I was impressed with St George’s Square as well as the Train Station.

I can just imagine on a nice hot summer day sitting near the fountains watching the world go by as travellers go back and forth through the station.

Anyways back onto our visit for lunch at the impressive Voda Bar & Grill, so how did it impress us? Well let’s take a look shall we:

Food

Well where to start with the food, it’s as good as I’ve had it anywhere else if not better. The Lunch menu offers exactly what you would expect from a bar menu i.e. burgers, sandwiches, salads etc. I opted for the Baked Tomato Bruschetta, since it was a tried and tested delicacy, and I have to say it was very tasty indeed. It almost melted in my mouth that’s how good it was.  My colleagues Moroccan Spiced Chicken went down a treat as well, as he found it to be spicy, the chicken was well cooked and the salad was fresh, those were his words.

With it being a lunch time we didn’t really fancy anything too taxing on our stomachs so we both opted for the sandwiches – I had the Voda Club Sandwich on a Ciabatta, while my colleague went for the Chicken and Humous Sandwich, both came with Fries and Salad.

“Absolutely delicious and very filling” and “Irresistible” were some of the words uttered by my colleague on his Chicken and Humous Sandwich, while my Voda Club was also worthy of such accolade, you have to take our word for it when we say they are very filling. So filling that no room was really left for desserts, not to worry though, Voda Bar & Grill is worthy of another visit.

Service

The service was very good as it only took 10 minutes for the Starters and Main Courses to arrive so they are fast and the food was very well presented, well cooked and well portioned.  Also, the staffs were friendly, professionally and not intrusive at all.  Plus, all regulars and students get a discount which is great and it becomes another reason to return to the venue. Another great thing is the innovative black slates some of the food comes out on like my colleagues starter. It adds a touch of uniqueness to the eating experience.

Restaurant/ Atmosphere

The decor of the restaurant was very modern and classy with comfortable brown leather seats, the stone effect wall tiles and black marble flooring- it reflects freshness and sophistication.  The freshness and trendiness of the bar attracts people from the age group of 18-40, from students to professionals, so the atmosphere is young and lively.  The bar was quite busy for a Sunday afternoon so you can imagine how busy it must be on a Friday and Saturday; the Manager tells us that the bar is extremely busy after 9pm over the weekends, and has become a bit of a before and after venue to go to.

Price

Once again the menu uses a very simplistic approach where Starters are £3.90, Mains £5.90, Sandwiches £4.90, Salads £4.90 (small) or £6.90 (large) and Burgers £6.90 and Side Dishes at £1.90. Our bill came to £17.60 (excl drinks), but the fact we left very full up shows the quality of the food on offer.

Knowing that students are regulars to the bar then the price speaks for itself, that the price is good and affordable. Despite the low prices, students and regulars do receive discounts, so that’s a big plus if you live in the Huddersfield area.

Would I Visit Again?

The food would be one of the main reasons for me to visit the Voda Bar & Grill again, as it was absolutely delicious and the combination of different portions was well thought out.  Also, the price of the food is reasonable since you can have a good meal including a starter, main and drinks for £12 roughly.  However, the car park is the only negative, since the bar is situated in the city centre and it does not have private parking so finding parking can be very difficult and can be expensive depending on your stay time.  Overall, it is a fantastic place to visit with friends and family and the spacious basement seating area can be hired out for special occasions so everyone can enjoy a delicious meal and good day out!
