I wake up every Sunday morning hoping for a text from at least one of my friends saying, “Fancy a Sunday Roast???” Then I’ll know chances are good I’m going to the Jungle, and I’m not talking about any old jungle, this is the Jungle Club based on Checketts Road, Leicester.

The reason I write this post is to tell all of you Sunday Roast fans that the ‘Jungle Club’ do the best ever “Indian style Sunday Roast”. You get a choice of chicken, lamb, turkey or you could even mix and match. You can also help yourself with a mixture of boiled vegetables and have a choice of gravy or ‘spicy’ gravy, ever tried that before?

The meats are cooked in an Indian style and taste nearly like a curry but only better. This goes beautifully with the mint sauce, which is also part of the £6.50 meal (£3.29 for kids). But be warned, sometimes the boiled vegetables can be slightly uncooked and the meats not to its full potential at times. It really can ruin your day, especially when you have been looking forward to it all week (trust me – I known the feeling).

The Jungle Club is not only good for its roasts, but also has many other good points and facilities such as its Jungle theme all round, an enormous play area for the kids, arcades, pool tables and even separate function rooms for events. Not to forget the boxing club somewhere in the building.

Finally the bar, it serves all major drinks. Drinks can be ordered from your table as the service is great and speedy when its not too busy like it was on mother’s day, it was “crazy”!

Another point you forgot to mention about jungle is the 10% surcharge which makes the £6.50 meal £7.15. The term SURCHARGE means “charge an extra fee, as for a special service”. In this instance the 10% charge counts for nothing as the staff do not actually need to do anything for you unless you specifically ask for it as they take the order then then you have to get your own plate, then your own food from the counter area, then your own vegetables and that accounts for the service charge??? In my opinion the 10% charge is a charge too far!

Yes i know what you mean, the other day me and my friends ordered drinks with our food from the waiter, got them and got charged £10% service charge on both drink and food! Whereas if we had got up and walked to the bar ourselves to order we would have saved 10%!! So, what have we learn’t……… Go to the bar yourself and save 10%.
