If you love your pub food and a place for a drink with the family then you would not be disappointed with the Grange Farm in Oadby. It has a good reputation throughout Leicester and Leicestershire as a good county pub. They have a selection of real ales and various different wines, as well as the regular brands of lagers and ciders. As it is a converted farm/stable it still has the original look from the outside.

The first thing you will notice as you enter the premises is the bright bar area within the dark decoration of the rest of the pub. A large pub with lots of seating but what you will notice is that during the winter it is very busy in the evenings so sometimes you will struggle to find seating, but in the summer the outdoor area is very popular so there is always space inside then.

So you have chosen your seating, the menu is very modern and has a wide selection of the traditional meals but is slightly overpriced but I think it is worth it for the comfort and atmosphere. I have tried various things of the menu in the past so this time I went for something different. The 7oz fillet steak for £14.95 might seem quite expensive but with fillets that is a normal price in pubs and restaurants. Order the food at the bar and you are given a wooden spoon with your number on it. What you will see is a standard of 15 to 20 minutes of wait before food is bought to your table, no matter how busy; it has always been the same. The waitress will then bring a selection of sauces and pickles to go with your food, I do find this a nice touch but make sure you select enough for the whole meal because without asking for more and seeming greedy there is not a chance. The steak, I asked for medium rare, which means brown outside and pink from the inside which was perfectly cooked and comes with chips, tomato and peas.

Overall a very nice meal, I have always found a consistency with the service and food in Grange Farm. I do not mind paying slightly extra for the overall feel of the pub and being able to bring my 2 year old to the pub without any problems is great and a huge plus.

Grange Farm gets 8.5 out of 10, so make sure you try it out.
