This seasons FA Cup looks like it could be a classic as it has already had more shock results then it normally has by this stage. With so many shocks so early, it could be said that some of the magic of the cup is returning this year. The shock so far has to be the loss of Manchester United to Leeds United, which did put a smile on my face. We have also had Liverpool already knocked out of the cup which probably was not as a big of a shock due to there poor form this season so far. Another early exit has been that of Arsenal though probably not as a big of a shock as they were up against opposition who knew exactly how best to play against the gunners.

With so many of the top teams being knocked out so early, a lot of the other teams are bound to start thinking that they have got a better chance of reaching the final and winning one of the most illustrious cup competitions in the world. The firm favourite now must be Chelsea. With the way the draw has panned out there will definitely be a team from outside the Premiership with Reading playing West Bromwich. With Readings current form in the cup they must fancy there chances of progressing, even if they are not doing so well in the league.

With regards to the other ties my predictions are that:

Ÿ  The winners of the Spurs V Leeds reply will beat Bolton

Ÿ  Chelsea will beat Cardiff

Ÿ  Birmingham to beat Derby

Ÿ  Fulham to beat the winners out of Notts County V Wigan reply

Ÿ  Man City to beat Stoke

Ÿ  Aston Villa to beat Wolves or Crystal Palace

Ÿ  Anybody could win in the south coast derby and I reckon it will go to a reply for a winner to be decided

Ÿ  I think reading’s good run in the cup will come to an end to West Brom.

Draw for 5th Round

Bolton V Spurs / Leeds

Chelsea V Cardiff

Derby V Birmingham

Fulham V Notts County / Wigan

Man City V Stoke

Reading V West Brom

Southampton V Portsmouth

Wolves / Crystal Palace V Aston Villa
