T20 World Cup – Super Eights Completed

With all group matches now completed and only 3 games remain as the tournament enters the final knockout stages.  My predicted team to win the T20 World Cup (Australia) cruised through to the semi-finals along with England, who have not put a foot wrong so far in West Indies.

Below is how the Super Eights Groups finished.

Group E

Team Played W L T Pts NNR
England 3 3 0 0 6 +2.733
Pakistan 3 2 1 0 4 -0.333
New Zealand 3 1 2 0 2 -1.281
South Africa 3 0 3 0 0 -1.117

Group F

Team Played W L T Pts NNR
Australia 3 3 0 0 6 +0.962
Sri Lanka 3 1 2 0 2 +0.041
West Indies 3 1 2 0 2 -0.373
India 3 1 2 0 2 -0.6

The top two teams from each group go through to the semi-finals, which are going to be played on the 13th and 14th May, with the final on the 16th May 2010.

Semi-finals line up:

England V Sri Lanka

Australia V Pakistan

Four strong teams bidding to be T20 World champions, Pakistan the holders face a strong Australian team who has barely been tested in the tournament as yet.  In the other semi-final, England take on Sri Lanka who qualified with a last ball victory over India and with Australia beating the home team West Indies in the latter match.

I will still back Australia to go all the way and lift that T20 World Champions trophy on Sunday 16th May. Who will you back? or who do you want to win?
