Red Bull were clearly the best over the weekend and finally done what they had threatened to do in the first two races and got a well deserved first and second place. If they had not had reliability issues in the first two races this could have been there third one-two. The worrying thing for the other teams will be the manner of the one-two as it did not look like they were going flat out at all and had plenty left in the tank if needed. This moves Red bull to third in the constructer’s championship http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/standings/default.stm
When it comes to the driver’s championship Massa goes to the top due to Alonso’s misfortune. This is the first race Alonso has not finished this season and it was not his fault he did not finish but down to the car. Vettel’s win takes him to joint second with Alonso and only 2 points behind Massa. And with another four drivers on 30 points or more it is shaping up to be an interesting battle for the drivers championship. I originally went for Alonso to win the championship and still think he has a got a very good chance to do so but I think it all depends on the Red Bulls performances and if they can improve on their reliability both Vettel and Webber will have a good chance. The driver of the day had to be Hamilton who started the race in 20th place and finished sixth which included overtaking something like eight cars in the first lap.
The race did not have the drama of the last race but was better then the season’s opener and it did have some overtaking, the only bit about it was that it did not happen for positions higher up the grid. Overall I think it is true that when it rains it makes it much more exciting as was proved by the qualifying for the race.
