Over a week into the tournament, the stadiums have been jammed packed for every game and the big shots continue in the IPL Season 3 as predicted in my earlier post. As if that was not enough, it has been announced that there will be two further teams next season. This will mean more games and more young and international talent on show for the World to enjoy.
The two new franchises in the Indian Premier League will be Pune and Kochi and they will join next season, taking the total number of teams to 10. At an auction held in Chennai, Pune was bought by Sahara Adventure Sports Group for $370m and Kochi went for $333m by Rendezous Sports World Limited.
This season so far has lived up to its expectations, with over 160 sixes, Super Over win for Kings XI Punjab and 37 ball 100 by Yusuf Pathan and many more records broken and many more will be broken.
Below is the table for IPL season 3 as it stands on 22nd March 2010
|Royal Challengers Bangalore||4||3||1||0||0||6||+1.212|
|Chennai Super Kings||4||2||2||0||0||4||+0.448|
|Kolkata Knight Riders||5||2||3||0||0||4||-0.851|
|Kings XI Punjab||4||1||3||0||0||2||-0.276|
Mumbai Indians are really looking good to progress to the next stage along with Royal Challengers and Deccan Chargers. The final spot for next stage will be taken by Delhi Daredevils, the team I still back to win the tournament, so let’s wait and see if they do…
