It is about time Capello earned his vast salary and make the tough decision which will help England win the game they can not afford to lose. First he has to drop Heskey as we need goals in the last match and he is not very likely to score. The other thing he has to do is start with Joe Cole as he is one of the most creative and skilful English players and we will need that to break down a team who will defend in numbers.
My team to play against Slovenia would be a 4-5-1 made up of:
James – even though he is an accident waiting to happen as we cannot risk Green after his mistake and Hart would be an even bigger risk due to his lack of experience.
The easy picks are Terry, Cole and Johnson, and with Carragher suspended I would go with Upson to partner Terry as he seems a bit more solid.
Barry would get the defensive midfield role, as this is important and no one else seems able to do it.
I would have Joe Cole play on the left of midfield and Lampard to be given one last chance in his preferred midfield role, with Gerrard playing just behind Rooney.
If Milner has recovered from his injury he would play on the right of midfield.
Rooney, and he must perform this time as if he does not he cannot really be classed as one of the best players in the world at the moment as he was being before the tournament started.
What do you think the team should be?
