In a one sided final, Chelsea completed a historic double for the club. It means that Chelsea and Carlo Ancelotti, as well as all the players have made history, as it is the first time the club have done the double and means they are now the seventh English club to do so, which just shows how special it is as it does not really happen that often.
Though the final was one sided and Chelsea deserved the victory it was still full of drama with a missed penalty each and lots of missed chances by Chelsea who should have won much more comfortably, which when you look at the fact that they hit the woodwork five times just shows how many they could have scored if only their finishing had been slightly better. The fact that they did no go two up just added to the drama and Portsmouth’s hope of equalising and forcing extra time.
The fact that Carlo Ancelotti has done the double in his first season in charge shows what a good manager he is and some could say better then a certain ‘special one’ who could only manage the league title in his first season. I would say without question Carlo Ancelotti is definitely the classier of the two and deserving of any praise that comes his way. He would certainly get my vote for manager of the season over his main rivals of Harry Redknapp who by finishing fourth acted like they had won something. Do not get me wrong I think Redknapp is an excellent manager but to win the double in your first season in charge is much better then finishing fourth in the league. However, had Hodgson won the Europa League final with Fulham it would have be a much harder choice to make.
I do not know if you agree or not but the fact that Ballack came of injured in the final did bring a smile to me face. Well hopefully he will be fit enough to play for Germany in the World Cup finals or not as the case may be.
