Another dominant performance from Webber takes him to the top of the Driver’s Championship and with his team mate Vettel in second on equal points; the next race should be interesting. The win means Red Bull top both the Drivers and Constructers Championship for the first time; can anybody stop them winning both the titles?
I think as long as they have sorted out any reliability issues with their cars they should win both, but who will win the drivers championship out of Webber and Vettel. Before the last couple of races I would have said Vettel but Webber is the man in form and if he carries on his winning run it will be interesting to see what happens within the team and how Vettel responds to being beaten by his team mate.
The Monaco GP was an incident packed race with plenty of crashes and the safety car having to come out on numerous occasions. Every time the safety car did come out, it meant whatever lead Webber had started to build up got taken away from him on several occasions which must have been frustrating for him, although Webber won the race comfortably and never looked in any trouble of being overtaken. Alonso did an impressive job of finishing 6th after starting from the pit lane and if he did not have had to start from there he may have run Webber close.
For me the move of the GP had to be Schumacher overtaking Alonso at the end of the race even if it was later deemed not to stand due to some safety car rule. I think in that move it proved he has still got that drive to win at all costs, but unfortunately for him, rather than not just allowing the overtake to stand he was also given a further penalty which resulted in his final place being 12th, outside the points, which I think is a bit on the harsh side and I am not even a Schumacher fan but they are appealing so lets see what happens.
Another good drive was by Kubica who finished third in his Renault and with his performance it always make me think just how good he could be if he was in one of the better cars, as I think he is a good driver and you will only be able to tell how good he really is if has given the chance to drive a more competitive car which could challenge the leaders on a more consistent basis.
What did you make of the race?
