The 55th Filmfare Awards 2009 – Winners List

55th Filmfare Awards, the most prestigious awards of the Indian film industry, have taken place in Mumbai, India. Without any doubt, they had the biggest stars of Bollywood participated, watched and enjoyed the glamorous and entertaining show. However, a few weeks ago, I produced my predictions of the winners yet now I will let you know about the official winners. Let’s see how right I was…

Here are the 55th Filmfare Awards 2009 Official Winners:

BEST ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE (MALE) – Amitabh Bachchan (Paa)…  Correct! The Big B has proved he has immense talent which will not die out no matter how many years he passes by.

BEST ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE (FEMALE) – Vidya Balan (Paa)… Wrong, I had predicted Bebo to win for 3 Idiots however Vidya Balan certainly did pull off a great performance and she certainly made a mark although she was performing opposite the biggest star, Big B, which shows her fine talent.

BEST FILM (POPULAR) – 3 Idiots… Correct! As I mentioned, this film relates to everyone and it had to be awarded for its meaningful story, best performances, excellent direction, great dialogues, entertaining music and so on…

BEST DIRECTOR – Rajkumar Hirani (3 Idiots)… Correct! Best Film had to be directed by the Best Director!

BEST STORY– Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani (3 Idiots)… Correct! 3 Idiots certainly have achieved most of the Filmfare Awards!

BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE (MALE) – Boman Irani (3 Idiots)… Wrong, I had predicted R Madhavan (3 Idiots) however Boman Irani performed superiorly too; it certainly is a deserving award.

BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE (FEMALE) – Kalki Koechlin (Dev D)… Wrong, my prediction was Gauhar Khan (Rocket Singh Salesman of the Year) however I have not seen Dev D yet I must watch it now to see her performance.

BEST SCREENPLAY – Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, and Abhijat Joshi (3 Idiots)… Another award for the Best Film, they are sweeping away the awards for certain.

BEST DIALOGUE – Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra (3 Idiots)… One more award for 3 Idiots, of course, a meaningful film like 3 Idiots did have meaningful dialogues to bring its message across to the audience.

BEST ACTOR CRITICS (MALE) – Ranbir Kapoor

BEST ACTOR CRITICS (FEMALE) – Mahie Gill (Dev D)

BEST FILM CRITICS – Firaaq

BEST DEBUT DIRECTOR (MALE) – Ayan Mukherjee (Wake Up Sid)

BEST DEBUT DIRECTOR (FEMALE) – Zoya Akhtar (Luck by Chance)

BEST MUSIC – A R Rahman (Delhi 6)… Wrong!  I did say that this category was tough since all the films had great music, although Delhi 6 music was not top of my list however we cannot doubt the potential of the A R Rahman.

BEST PLAYBACK SINGER (MALE) – Mohit Chauhan (Masakalli, Delhi 6)… Disappointed! This must be a mistake, since Rahat Fateh Ali Khan (Aaj Din Chadheya, Love Aaj Kal) should have won without any doubt!  Since, Masakalli only became popular due to Sonam Kapoor’s dance with the pigeon not because of Mohit’s singing!

BEST PLAYBACK SINGER (FEMALE) – Rekha Bharadwaj (Genda Phool, Delhi 6) AND Kavita Seth (Iktara, Wake Up Sid)… Surprising to have a tie yet Filmfare must have seen great potential both the singers to come to this conclusion.

BEST BACKGROUND SCORE – Amit Trivedi (Dev D)… Like I said, I have not need seen Dev D so I predicted 3 Idiots for this category however Dev D seems to be a strong competitor so it must be a good film.

BEST LYRICS – Irshad Kamil (Aaj Din Chadiya, Love Aaj Kal)… Although, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan did not win for singing the song however I am very glad that Irshad Kamil won for the lyrics; the lyrics were the soul of the song.

BEST EDITING – Sreekar Prasad (Firaaq)

BEST CHOREOGRAPHY – Bosco, Caesar (Chor Bazaari, Love Aaj Kal)

BEST VISUAL EFFECT– Kaminey

BEST ACTION – Vijayan Master (Wanted)

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY – Rajeev Rai (Dev D)

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD – Shashi Kapoor

I must say that I was correct in saying that 3 Idiots will sweep up at the Filmfare Awards since they did achieve the big awards such as Best Film, Best Director, Best Story, Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male), Best Screenplay and Best Dialogue. Let me know about what you think about the official winners of Filmfare Awards 2009…
