January 2010 sees the return of the US Hit series “24”. The series sees the return of Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) as the government agent working for the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU). Their aim being to protect US soils from any terrorist threats. The series “24” represents 24 hours, and each episode represents a 1 hour slot, as we see the action unfold in each episode. The exploits of Jack Bauer has definitely got the viewers hooked.
We see Bollywood taking another step in the Hollywood direction as Anil Kapoor makes his debut in one of the longest running serials in “24”. Anil Kapoor makes his debut as President Omar Hassan. He is at the United Nations to negotiate a peace keeping treaty; an assassination plot on President Omar Hassan is uncovered, and Jack Bauer must use all of his expertise to ensure the assassination plot fails.
Anil Kapoor has had a pretty illustrious career in Bollywood, having been in the industry for 30 years, that being an achievement in itself. Having had such hit films as Mr India, Tezaab, Ram Lakhan, Lamhe, Beta and many more! Anil Kapoor is one of few actors today who are so versatile, and can still pull off many a different role, be it comedy, romantic or action. A new chapter in his life came in the shape of “Slumdog Millionaire”, where he played Prem Kumar, the host of the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. The movie went onto become a hit worldwide as well as being nominated for various awards.
The success of “Slumdog Millionaire” has earned him a prominent role in one of USA’s top serials. This further showing us what a great actor he is, and that there is no limits to his versatility, as he plays the role of President Omar Hassan with great ease.
